Lab Architecture

This Hands-on Training consists of a virtualized Evolved Packet Core alongside a radio access network that consists of a testbed connecting a gNodeB, an eNB, and a UE allowing the user to explore diverse radio and core protocol stacks, with the flexibility to manipulate and configure various scenarios and modes.

Why this Lab ?

This Lab provides a fundamental step in advancing 5G NSA expertise, focusing on practical deployment options with Amarisoft software. This lab deepens understanding of radio network fundamentals, including channel models and transmission control, noise effect and more. Participates can gain hands-on experience by exploring diverse radio and core protocol stacks, with the flexibility to manipulate and configure various scenarios and modes.

Lab Objectives

  • Explore 5G deployment options and the use of Amarisoft software for 4G and 5G networks.
  • Understand the fundamentals of radio networks, including channel models, physical layer configuration parameters, and transmission control.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the Radio Access Network (RAN) protocol stack, including the layers and the protocols used by tweaking real-world parameters in the Amarisoft technology stack.
  • Master Quality of Service (QoS) and traffic management in radio network communication.
  • Gain insights into User Equipment (UE) and work with our hands-on lab using the attachment procedure in both 4G and 5G, including 5GNSA UE attachment.
  • Understand noise in the radio network communications, and understand Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN), Doppler effect, and Rayleigh fading.
  • Master mobility management in mobile networks, with our hands-on handover challenges in different modes to help cover real-world use cases.
  • Understand the difference between NR to NR handovers in NSA (Non-Standalone) mode and LTE to LTE handovers in NSA mode.
  • Explore data bearer concepts, including understanding bearers, bearer types, bearer modification, and dedicated bearer allocation.
  • Gain practical knowledge of optimizing bandwidth using tools such as iPerf.
  • Explore techniques for optimizing bandwidth, specifically in scenarios involving different bandwidths and MIMO configurations.
