Lab Architecture
This Hands-On Training represents a playground that consist of virtualized EPC and eNodeB alongside UE, that can allow beginners to get familiar with different 4G concepts.
Why this Lab ?
This Hands-On Lab provides a comprehensive overview of 4G networks, covering key concepts such as LTE architecture, protocols, radio elements, and main processes through a step-by-step, beginner-friendly approach, Our 4G beginners' lab introduces the fundamentals of Wireshark packet analysis, giving participants the opportunity to inspect protocols and packets, enabling them to gain valuable network analysis skills. participants will emerge from this Lab with a solid foundation in 4G telco basics, ready to tackle challenges and seize opportunities in the dynamic telecommunications industry.
Lab Objectives
- Explore the fundamental concepts of cellular networks such as network heterogeneity, in order to understand different deployment scenarios.
- Delve into the different LTE releases to gain a comprehensive understanding of the evolution and enhancements introduced in successive releases.
- Understand the IP-based architecture and services.
- Gain insights into radio elements such MIMO technology, Multiple Access schemes, Modulation Schemes, 4G frequency bands, and Carrier Aggregation.
- Explore the 4G network Architecture and understanding the roles of evolved NodeB (eNodeB), Mobility Management Entity (MME), Serving Gateway (SGW), Packet Data Network Gateway (PGW), HSS (Home Subscriber Server) and PCRF (Policy and Charging Rules Function).
- Explore the various protocol stacks for control plane and user plane functions.
- Improve your ability to analyze network traffic effectively using Wireshark, an essential skill for monitoring and resolving issues within 4G networks.
- Examine fundamental protocols such as Diameter, GTP and SCTP using Wireshark tool.
- Learn about the different types of bearer in 4G, i.e. default bearers and dedicated bearers with their associated QoS.
- Gain basic skills in the authentication and key agreement algorithm (LTE-AKA).
- Visualize the important processes like paging process, dedicated bearer allocation bearer process and attachment process and draw their call flows.
